Best clothing for Figure 03: the textile-shell integration guide
Figure 03 launched in October 2025 with a design decision that transforms what "clothing for a humanoid" means. Here is what to buy for it, at launch and looking ahead to the third-party pipeline.
The Figure-native textile shell system, in the Ivory colourway
The dressing that ships with the platform. Native to the Gen 03's shell architecture, developed in collaboration with a named designer, and priced inside the platform's overall commercial arrangement. For most Figure 03 buyers, this is the right first dressing.

Why the Figure 03 changes the review question
Every prior full-form humanoid platform, and every full-form humanoid platform still in commercial deployment through mid-2026 that is not the Figure 03, ships in an injection-molded thermoplastic body-panel finish. Dressing those platforms means covering the shell. Dressing the Figure 03 means replacing the shell.
Figure AI's decision to retire the plastic body panels of the Figure 01 and Figure 02 in favor of removable, washable textile outer layers, developed in collaboration with fashion designer Janis Sne, is the most consequential design shift in the humanoid platform category since the retirement of hydraulic actuation. It rearranges what a "clothing" purchase for a Figure 03 buyer actually consists of. The platform's outer layer is no longer a covering; it is a component of the platform itself, and the buyer is choosing among Figure-native shells, third-party aftermarket shells, and eventual atelier-cut bespoke shells that operate within Figure's engineering envelope.
The launch dressings
Ivory (Figure-native)
The default launch dressing. Warm ivory colourway, soft-touch technical fabric, exceptional fit because it was engineered against the platform's own kinematic profile. Editor's value pick for most Figure 03 buyers.
Slate (Figure-native)
The alternate launch colourway. Cooler grey palette, technically identical to the Ivory. Choose based on the deployment environment's aesthetic rather than performance; both perform equivalently across our test protocols.
The third-party pipeline
Within nine months of the Figure 03's October 2025 launch, at least three independent ateliers have publicly indicated they are developing third-party dressing pipelines compatible with the platform's shell interface. None had shipped a finished product as of this issue's press date. We will review the third-party pipeline in the winter issue as products become available.
Buying advice
If you are a first-generation Figure 03 buyer, take the Figure-native Ivory or Slate at launch and wait on the third-party pipeline. The Figure-native shells are engineered specifically to the platform and will outperform any aftermarket alternative until the aftermarket has matured. The right time to buy a bespoke atelier-cut shell for the Figure 03 is late 2027, once the aftermarket has settled and the atelier ecosystem has calibrated to the platform's shell architecture.
If you are an enterprise buyer looking at the Figure 03 for hospitality or retail deployment, the Ivory colourway will pair with most premium hospitality aesthetics. For darker property palettes, the Slate colourway is the appropriate choice.
